What is the Purpose of Early Child Assessment Development?

Child development assessment (การ ประเมิน พัฒนาการ เด็ก, which is the term in Thai) is done for three purposes and each of goes a long way in developing the educational strength of a child and to ensure that your child succeeds while he or she grows.

Child Assessments Helps Teachers’ Planning

With early childhood assessment, teachers can quickly identify the child’s strengths and weaknesses and plan on adequate ways to guide the child. Having assessed a child, teachers can also provide the appropriate activities that suit the child’s different development areas; as a result, the academic learning of the child is significantly improved.

For instance, a teacher may observe that a child finds group activities uncomfortable, and thus arrange independent activities to support the child.

Child Assessments Encourages School and Family Teamwork

Child assessment enables a teacher to relate better and work together with a child’s family to support the child’s growth.

For instance, a teacher may fail to observe a child’s inability to differentiate colors; the teacher may learn from the child’s parents that the child identifies colors better with toys. This creates an avenue for parents and teachers to work as a team and help the child at home and school, respectively, to learn and develop.

Child Assessments helps for Quality Evaluating

Child assessments involve the constant monitoring of a child’s development, answering their development questions, and learning needs. By evaluating the overall performance of a group, administrators can realize certain areas of the program needs of a child and come up with the best professional development plan to assist teachers in supporting all children’s progress.

For instance, a principal may review the math performance of all pupils in a school and identify the need to improve math training to develop the math skills of all the pupils in the school.
